Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (organisation)
Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales (CSSIW) is an operationally distinct division of the Department of Public Services and Performance in the Welsh Assembly Government.
It has a service regulation and inspection unit, responsible for regulating over 6,000 services, using the regulations and national minimum standards set by the Welsh Assembly Government.
It also operates a local authority inspection and review unit, that promotes improvement through evaluating the quality and effectiveness of social services in all 22 local authorities. It works with other inspectorates and regulatory bodies in carrying out its work. Together with the Wales Audit Office it conducts joint reviews of local authority social services.
CSSIW produces a wide range of reports and public information documents and leaflets. Most of these can be downloaded from their website.
