Third Sector Leadership Centre (organisation and website)
The Third Sector Leadership Centre seeks to ensure leaders in the Third Sector (community groups, voluntary organisations, social enterprises and charities) have access to the resources they need to develop their leadership skills. It exists to raise awareness, identify need, facilitate access and demonstrate the value of leadership development within the sector.
The website provides a wealth of information on leadership and how to develop leaders. It contains a number of downloadable resources as well as short introductions to topics such as assessment tools, competency frameworks, and qualifications. Each topic has links to a simple development diagnostic table, case studies, video clips and toolkits.
The downloadable research / reports include:
- Learning to lead - 10 ways to develop the a leadership skills
- Third sector leadership - a third sector view of values-based leadership
These materials will provide both information on leadership roles and the characteristics of effective leaders as well as information on the many ways in which individuals can develop their leadership skills.
Leadership in the third sector involves dealing with considerable complexity, in terms of managing a range of stakeholders and partnerships, as well as the more generic skills of leading an organisation. Leaders operating in all contexts have something to learn from the sector and the materials contained in this website will have relevance to all managers of values-based organisations such as social care providers.
